Some smaller, independent shops close for a few hours in the afternoon. Chains and department stores generally stay open.
How strong is the sun in summer?
Strong enough to burn quickly. Use high SPF, reapply after swimming and avoid the midday sun where possible.
Are pharmacies open on Sundays?
Many close, but on-duty pharmacies (farmacias de guardia) stay open on a rota.
